Nine separate projects address crucial pedestrian, bicycle and traffic safety concerns

(Berkeley, Calif., November 23, 2015) – The Safe Transportation Research and Education Center (UCB SafeTREC) announced today nine grants for 2015-16 from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to support crucial traffic safety programs.

Our Community Pedestrian Safety Training (CPST) program with California Walks(link is external) is a four-hour, community-based workshop designed to help local advocates and community members develop pedestrian safety action plans that leverage best practices, promote walkability and ensure community engagement. 

Our upcoming CPSTs:

The purpose of the Community Bicycle Safety Training (CBST) is to make bicycling safer and more pleasant in California’s communities. Modeled off of SafeTREC’s Community Pedestrian Safety Training (CPST), CBST will empower communities to envision safer bicycling environments, and reduce bicycle-related traffic crashes in California.
