Tribal Street Story Tool

UC Berkeley SafeTREC has adapted its Street Story tool for use in and by Tribal communities in California. Street Story is an online engagement platform that allows residents to collect information on transportation crashes, near misses, hazards, and safe places to travel.  The Tribal Street Story tool will allow for the collection of community-generated data on road conditions and transportation safety issues in and near tribal lands.

SafeTREC's grantee database contains information regarding available grants for tribal transportation-related projects including infrastructure, education, and research. Additionally, users can explore a list of tribal grantee awards by funding source and tribe.

Appendix of References & Resources

  • Explore an appendix of common references and resources developed by SafeTREC and the National Indian Justice Center (NIJC) made to support transportation engineers, planners, analysts, managers, and policy-makers who are tasked with addressing traffic, pedestrian, and bicycle safety in California Native American communities.

Toolkits

  • The Tribal Crash Reporting Toolkit(link is external)(link is external) from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has been developed to enable improved collection and use of crash data by Tribal governments. The toolkit enables Tribal Governments to maintain data sovereignty while consistently collecting a standardized set of data elements for each crash.
