SafeTREC is offering free Complete Streets Safety Assessments (CSSAs) to California communities, including cities, counties, and school campuses with a population of over 2,500 people. CSSAs are comprehensive transportation safety assessments that focus on pedestrian and bicycle safety. They help local agencies identify and implement traffic safety solutions that lead to improved safety for all users of California’s roadways.

New paper highlights how socio-economic characteristics of a specific area influence traffic safety
Former SafeTREC graduate student researcher and current postdoctoral researcher at the McMaster Institute for Transportation and Logistics (MITL) Amir M. Amiri has co-authored a new publication, "Evaluating the impact of socio-economic contributing factors of cities in California on their traffic safety condition" with researchers Koorosh Naderi, Jill F. Cooper, and Navid Nadimi in the Journal of Transport & Health.

New Tribal Crash Reporting Toolkit
In October 2020, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published a new Tribal Crash Reporting Toolkit that has been designed to help Tribal governments collect, manage, and analyze crash data in their jurisdictions. SafeTREC postdoctoral researcher Praveen Vayalamkuzhi has co-authored a newly published paper, "Process Mapping of Stakeholders in Transportation Safety Management," with researchers Camille Salem, Offer Grembek, Aditya Medury, and John L. Ensch in the Journal of Management in Engineering.
