The National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) released the 2023 Shared Micromobility in the U.S. and Canada report in July 2024, where monthly and yearly trends in the usage of e-bikes, pedal bikes, and e-scooters were collected and analyzed.

UC Berkeley SafeTREC associate director SangHyouk Oum and research data analyst Amalia Stahl will present at the Association of Transportation Safety Information Professionals (ATSIP) 2024 Traffic Records Forum on August 13, 2024 in San Diego, California. The Traffic Records Forum gathers transportation professionals, including data analysts and engineers, to discuss the best practices and newest collection methods of highway safety data and traffic records.

The UC Berkeley Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS) has announced the 2024 ITS awards, where three SafeTREC leadership and staff members and one alum have been recognized for their contributions towards creating a culture of excellence and increasing the research portfolio of SafeTREC and the ITS community.

This year, the Community Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Program (CPBSP)(link is external) is partnering with 8 new communities and 5 previous communities to help advance their pedestrian and bicycle safety goals: Altadena, Bakersfield, El Sereno, Jurupa Valley, Kingsburg, Knights Landing, Lamont, Orange Cove, Oxnard, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Tulare.

The study was led by Ewald & Wasserman Research Consultants (E&W) and conducted on behalf of the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) and UC Berkeley SafeTREC.
