Over 3,600 people died in traffic crashes in California in 2019; more than one in four people who died was a pedestrian or bicyclist (NHTSA). According to the latest traffic safety data from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) while traffic fatalities have decreased 5.1% from 3,798 in 2018 to 3,606 in 2019, the safety for those walking and biking in our communities continues to be a concern.
