The 2024 CPBSP
UC Berkeley SafeTREC and California Walks are excited to announce the upcoming January launch of our 2024 Community Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Program (CPBSP)!
The Community Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Program (CPBSP) was launched by UC Berkeley SafeTREC in collaboration with California Walks to reduce pedestrian and bicycle fatalities and serious injuries in California communities. The CPBSP prioritizes working in communities that are at disproportionate risk for road traffic injuries and addressing the safety needs of people who are underserved by traditional transportation resources and planning, e.g., older adults, people with lower incomes, people with disabilities, people who use a mobility device, immigrant or refugee populations, and more.
CBPSP projects include the Community Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Training (CPBST) and the Comunidades Activas y Seguras (CAyS) Programs. In 2024, our team will partner with communities across California to discuss, plan, and implement active transportation safety improvements and projects.
Technical Assistance
Already gone through the process but need help to implement the recommendations outlined in your community action plan? We're excited to announce that this year we will offer follow-up technical assistance to both former CPBST and CAyS communities.
How to Apply
Applications for the programs are expected to open mid-December and will be accepted on a rolling basis until all slots are filled. For early consideration, apply by January 19, 2024. Have questions or need help with your application? Email cpbst@berkeley.edu.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
