SafeTREC to be a part of Collaborative Sciences Center for Road Safety led by HSRC

(Berkeley, CA – Dec. 13, 2016) SafeTREC is excited to be a part of a new U.S. Department of Transportation-funded National University Transportation Center, to be led by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’sHighway Safety Research Center. US DOT is awarding $2.8 million in the first year, and up to $15 million in grant funding over five years, to create and manage the Collaborative Sciences Center for Road Safety (CSCRS).

The CSCRS is one of five national transportation centers selected to run a National University Transportation Center This center unites leading transportation research, planning, public health, data science and engineering programs with the mission to lead and influence the future of transportation safety research for the nation.

The UC Berkeley team, led by SafeTREC Co-Director Offer Grembek, is one of four university consortium members, along with Duke University, Florida Atlantic University and University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
