Postdoctoral Researcher Aditya Medury and Graduate Student Researcher Mengqiao Yu presented the findings of theUCCONNECT Smart Intersection study on July 8 at SafeTREC. This study utilized in-pavement sensors installed along a crosswalk and vehicular lanes of an intersection to study multimodal safety-critical interactions, such as right turning yielding behavior, over time. The presentation led to a discussion about the possibilities that smart intersections present for safety.
