Praveen Vayalamkuzhi honored with NSC Rising Star of Safety Award

On September 21, 2022 Praveen Vayalamkuzhi, former postdoctoral researcher at UC Berkeley SafeTREC, was honored by the National Safety Council (NSC) as aNSC President Lorraine Martin and Praveen Vayalamkuzhi at the NSC Expo holding a sign on stage congratulating the Rising Stars of Safety Award recipientsRising Star of Safety at the 2022 NSC Safety Congress & Expo in San Diego, California.

The program, now in its 13th year, recognizes emerging safety professionals for their safety leadership in their organization and dedication to continuous improvement in safety.

The Rising Stars of Safety, Class of 2022 includes 39 women and men from 31 states and eight countries. "Each has demonstrated enthusiasm, skills and leadership that will undoubtedly inspire other safety leaders and colleagues" noted Lorraine M. Martin, President and CEO at NSC. "They exhibit a commitment to doing their part in ensuring people live their best lives, free of preventable injury and death."

Vayalamkuzhi honored for his road safety leadership and dedication 

Praveen Vayalamkuzhi was recognized for his development of "highway safety evaluation methodologies/strategies and safety improvement decision-making tools for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), which are real, practical solutions to existing road safety problems. He helped train Caltrans’ safety group with the developed safety decision-making tool, which helps safety investigators rank the locations to investigate and recommend countermeasures.
