Afsaneh Yavari serves as a Research & Development Engineer at Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS), Safe Transportation Research and Education Center (SafeTREC). She manages the Complete Streets Safety Assessment (CSSA) Program and previously led the Tribal Road Safety Program, including the Tribal Transportation Safety Assessment (TTSA) Program. She is registered as a Traffic Engineer (TE) in California. She holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, and a Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering, both from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Afsaneh also serves as Tech Transfer's Technical Program Engineer, where she updates existing courses and supports development of new courses.
Before joining the University of California, Berkeley, Yavari worked in both the public and private sectors, which included: TJKM Transportation Consultants, City of Albuquerque, JHK & Associates, City of Tracy, and Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
