Sang-Hyeok Kang is an associate professor at the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, Incheon National University, South Korea. He received his Ph. D. from Hanyang University in 2009 with his thesis entitled "Development of GIS-Based Haul Route Planning Methodology for Earthwork." From 2009 to 2012, Dr. Kang worked as an Associate Specialist at UC Berkeley Safe Transportation Research and Education Center (SafeTREC) and participated in the PLANSafe project. In that project, he developed a program to geocode traffic accident data of the Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS) in California and contributed to opening the current Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS) website. In 2012, he returned to South Korea and worked at the Construction Economy Research Institute of Korea for three years. Since 2015 he has been working as a professor at Incheon National University. Recently, he has been interested in urban planning to improve citizens' quality of life. His related journal paper is "Geographic Information System-Based Evaluation Method for Accessibility of Social-Infrastructure Facilities."
