Jill Cooper is the co-director of UC Berkeley SafeTREC. She facilitates multi-disciplinary traffic safety and injury prevention planning and conducts behavioral research. She is the principal investigator on projects involving distracted driving, pedestrian safety, and statewide highway safety planning. She has conducted evaluations of active transportation projects, including Safe Routes to School projects, the Safe Routes to Transit project in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Prior to working at SafeTREC, Jill’s career focused on agency and organizational development in the areas of mediation, domestic violence, alcohol and drugs and traffic safety. She also worked as a mediator and taught mediation at UCB Extension, Wright State University and Antioch University. She received her MSW in Social Welfare from UCB with an emphasis in planning and management.
